Looking for concerts

I'm looking for possible concerts to give - I haven't performed in quite a while and am missing it as I really enjoy playing live. A bit of income is of course also welcome, these aren't overly brilliant times for independent artists. Here's what I/we have to offer:

Solo Concerts:

A typical solo concert of mine consists of performing both my composed electro-acoustic pieces and improvised parts, combining the music I'm most known for with my current musical life. Composed and improvised parts are often blended / combined with each other, which in my experience works really well. I open to discuss with the organizer whether the improvised parts should be more blended into ( meaning clarinet ) or more contrasting with ( meaning soprano saxophone ) the composed parts.

Concert durations vary between 45 - 50 minutes to fit festival time slots and 60 – 70 minutes for full solo concerts. In addition to the concert I offer audience discussions, lectures, improvisation workshops and drum circles - audience discussions and lectures are a free option that is included in my concert fee.

Concerts with brachklang:

brachklang ( 'fallow sound' in English ) is a duo consisting of Ingo Weiss on alto and baritone saxophone, and live looping, and myself on alto and soprano saxophone, pocket trumpet, percussion and live looping. We play freely improvised music with a pinch of jazz that is quite varied and ranges from quiet soundscapes to really intense blowing. brachklang is the latest musical project I'm involved in and I'm very enthusiastic about the music itself and the incredible pace at which it keeps evolving. We never know what to expect, what will be the outcome when we begin playing, so surprises should be considered an essential part of our music.

The paragraph regarding concert durations and additional options of my solo concerts also applies to brachklang performances; with the longer durations we may require a break.

Concerts with Reflection and Resonance:

Reflection and Resonance is an improvised music duo consisting of Dorothea Krishnabhakdi on Eb alto clarinet and myself on Eb alto and Bb soprano clarinet. Due to the nature of the clarinet family of instruments, this music has a more 'chamber music' character than brachklang and also tends to be influenced more by contemporary classical music. This being said, Reflection and Resonance is a kind of 'work in progress', and some things may change in the near future: Dorothea is likely to add the Bb soprano clarinet to her sound palette, while I may add the soprano saxophone and the pocket trumpet...

The paragraph regarding concert durations and additional options of my solo concerts also applies to Reflection and Resonance concerts; with the longer durations we may require a break.

If you are interested in booking a concert, or know an organizer, organization or concert location I / we could offer giving a concert to, please get in touch with me: mail.bernhardguenter(@)googlemail.com . I hope we'll be meeting at a gig soon!

Welcome to my personal website and music blog!

I'm still in the process of refining the 'look and feel' of my new site, including the choice of colours ( not easy at all! ) and correcting a few glitches in its layout, but invite to look around and enjoy - most of the intended content is already online and there's quite a bit to read...
